RootProbe

I talk to operators
before I build.

RootProbe is how I validate software ideas — through direct interviews with the people who'd use them. No surveys. No assumptions.

I'm Ruben, an independent software developer. Before writing a line of code, I spend weeks talking to operators in a specific industry to understand whether a real problem exists and whether my solution would actually help.

RootProbe is the name I use for that research work. If you've received an email from me, I'm genuinely trying to understand your experience — not pitch you anything.

01

Identify an industry

I look for industries where software exists but operators are still working around its limitations — a sign the problem is real and unsolved.

02

Interview 10–20 operators directly

I reach out by email and follow up with short calls. I ask about their workflows, costs, and frustrations — not about my product idea.

03

Build only if research confirms a real problem

If the interviews don't reveal a clear, widespread problem, I move on. Research that kills an idea is research that worked.

Currently focused on booking software costs for escape room operators — understanding how existing tools are priced, where they fall short, and what operators have tried.
